Price management in GC.CATALOG
In GC.DASHBOARD there is a menu Pricing & Availability allowing for price and availability management in GC.CATALOG.
The menu elements are:
-
Price Profiles — using base prices you can manage pricing strategies for different customers. Prices can be automatically set, using markup, margin, or discount levels, and apply custom rules for manufacturers and products. You can also set all final prices in a particular price profile without using base prices. Finally, you link particular customers with particular price profiles.
-
Price and availability — you can manually change base prices or availability levels here.
Tools
- Customer profiles — check if a customer is linked to any Price profile.
- Currencies — set exchange rates if you use different currencies in files.
- Import — place where you import base prices, availability levels, final prices, links between price profiles and users, links between ERP articles and TECDOC articles.
- Price explanation — explains why a particular product has a particular price in GC.CATALOG.
Price Profiles
Price Profiles allow you to configure flexible pricing strategies tailored to your business needs. Within each profile, you define how prices are calculated and manage exceptions for specific manufacturers and products. Finally you link particular customers to particular price profiles.
Price profile setup
When creating a new Price Profile, you define:
- Name — for easy identification.
- Type — choose one of the following:
- Markup — a percentage added to the base price.
- Margin — calculates the price to achieve a desired profit margin from the selling price.
- Discount — a percentage subtracted from the base price.
- Default value (%) — percentage value that will apply across the profile unless overridden.
A useful option is the possibility to copy an existing profile (in which you already have defined lists of manufacturers and ready final prices), changing its name and adapting its parameters to a different profile's needs.
Detailed settings
When such a price profile is created (with 30% margin default value), you can set other parameters ("Add Price Parameter" button). For example, you can set that a particular manufacturer will be sold at a different margin percentage (Bosch – 15% in this example).
Prices of articles
In the next tab "Prices of Articles" you have possibility to set products with their final prices shown in catalog. So in this example most of products will be sold at 30% margin level, products of certain manufacturers will be sold at a different level (Bosch – 15%) and you can also set final prices of certain articles ("Add Product" button like in example) – so those prices will appear in the catalog for customers linked to such price profile.
Note
If you do not want to use manipulated base prices and prefer to work only with final prices in the catalogue, define a price profile with 0% margin/markup/discount and import profiles-prices.csv. Those prices will appear in Prices of Articles for that profile.
Remember: price profile names must be created manually first before any data can be imported and linked to a particular profile.
Assigning profiles to customers
Once a price profile is configured, you can link it to specific customers. This ensures each customer receives pricing based on the logic and rules defined in their assigned profile.
Note
Number in ERP from GC.CART is the same field as CUSTOMER_ID (used in profiles_customers.csv) and Business identities in GC.AUTH.
Price & Availability
This section allows you to manually change base prices or availability levels for products.
Use the search box in the top-right corner to find a product. When results appear, expand an entry to view and edit the base/retail price and availability levels.
Note
To import base prices in bulk rather than editing them manually, use prices.csv. Those base prices are then subject to the settings of price profiles linked to your customers.
Import file formats are documented in Data formats.
