Featured items
This functionality lets the business promote selected products on the website. You choose which products to promote and where to display them, and you can pick different groups or statuses that determine where your products appear.
For example, if you want your featured products shown in the Full-face motorcycle helmets category, you can select the group A~5010749~93519. If you want them shown in Sale, you can select the status N~7904.
There is also an inheritance option that extends featured products to other categories:
If you set featured products on the Clothing and accessories group and enable inheritance, the promotions also appear on the Suits and Two-piece motorcycle suit groups. If inheritance is off, the featured products appear only in Clothing and accessories.
The management panel
This section describes the featured-items management panel (the "panel"). Below is a sample list of promotions:
The panel consists of:
- First column — the promotion status (on or off). Click the icon to change it.
- ID — the ID of the group, status or search in which the featured products are shown.
- Name — the group name (if available).
- Type — the type (group, status or search).
- Start date — when the promotion starts showing; lets you schedule it in advance.
- Expiration date — when the promotion expires and stops showing in the catalogue.
- Include subgroups — shows the promotion banner in subcategories too.
- Don't show when vehicle selected — controls display depending on whether the user has selected a vehicle.
- Last columns — management icons: Edit, Delete, Add item, Show items.
Adding a new promotion
To add a new promotion, click the green Add button in the top-right of the panel. You'll see a window like this:
Options when adding a new promotion:
- First row — the condition for displaying the promotion.
- In the field below, enter the code of a specific group or status. If you chose the search, select a specific option from the list.
- Include subgroups — show the promotion in subcategories of the selected group.
- Don't show when vehicle selected — whether the promotion should show when the user has a vehicle selected (ticking it hides the promotion when a vehicle is selected).
- The next line defines the promotion's start and end dates.
- Active — the promotion status, i.e. whether it should be active right after creation (you can create it and activate it manually later).
Clicking the edit option in the panel opens the same window, filled with the data currently defined for the promotion.
Adding new products
The default option is to add products via the search. After clicking the add-products button, this window appears:
In the Item index field, enter the product index; a list of products appears, choose the one you want and click Add. The product is now added to the promotion. The window stays open so you can add several products. Click Close to close it; the page reloads and shows the added products. Example:
After typing oc90, a product list appears for you to choose from.
The panel also lets you add multiple products at once. Switch to the Add multiple items tab:
In the text field, enter a list of product IDs (important: separate products with commas); below is an example of a correctly filled query.
After clicking Add, all the products are added.
