Getting access to GC.MDM

GC.MDM is a data-management system that only authorized people can access. Access happens through a Terminal Server (RDP).

If your role involves working with data in GC.MDM, you should already have received the following from GearCode:

A user account for logging into the system in the gcplatform.eu domain.
A temporary password.
A shortcut to the Terminal Server (GC.MDM.rdp) to place on your computer's desktop.

Before starting the activation procedure below, make sure you have access to your work email, which will be used to secure your account. You may additionally use a mobile phone for this purpose.

In this guide the example is based on the OLD24 tenant (your tenant usually matches your company name). Wherever the OLD24 tenant appears, use your own tenant's name instead.

Activating GC.MDM access from the information received from GearCode

Go to https://myaccount.microsoft.com
If you use other Microsoft accounts and the data of another account appears after opening the page, you can either (a) sign out, or (b) start over by opening the browser in Incognito mode.
When the login prompt appears, use the credentials you received.

Step 4 — Set your password

You will then be asked to set your target password: enter the temporary password you received, then enter the new target password twice.

Step 5 — Provide additional information

In the next step you will be asked to provide additional information.

Step 6 — Choose your work email as the verification method

As the account confirmation method, choose your work email address.

Step 7 — Enter the one-time code

Step 8 — Optionally secure your account with SMS

You can additionally secure your account using a mobile phone with SMS verification. After completing this process, your account is ready to be used for logging into the Terminal. You still need to add a GC.AUTH account.

Steps 9–11 — Create a GC.AUTH account

To create a GC.AUTH account, visit the authentication system page that corresponds to your tenant.
Choose Create account.
Important — when creating the account, be sure to choose "Register with a Microsoft account".

Steps 12–13 — Use your Microsoft account and request permissions

Use the Microsoft account you activated in the previous steps.
The final step is for your tenant administrator to set, in GC.AUTH, the permission that allows you to log into the GC.AUTH application.

You can now start working with GC.MDM. Wherever you log in — whether to the Terminal Server or to the GC.MDM application itself — you always use your account from the gcplatform.eu domain. You can use it in other contexts too, such as GC.CART or GC.CMS within GC.CATALOG: one account for everything (SSO).

To log into GC.MDM, run the GC.MDM.rdp shortcut and sign in to the Terminal Server (if you save the credentials, you will not have to enter them every time you connect), then sign in to the GC.MDM application.
